Happy CPI Day!

Good morning!

We’re minutes away from the December CPI report. I’ll be on Bloomberg TV to talk about inflation, the Fed, and the macro outlook at 12:10 p.m. ET today. As I wrote last week, the December jobs report was full of good news. Let’s hope the CPI report delivers more positive news about the pace at which inflation is receding.

This evening, at 8:00 pm ET, I’ll be on The Mehdi Hassan Show. We’ll be talking about the debt ceiling and the growing concern that some House members won’t rule out the possibility of a voluntary default on US government debt.

And speaking of the debt ceiling, I’ll be doing a live event at Columbia Law School on January 23 to talk about one of the potential solutions to the problem. And, yes, it involves platinum.
