The last few weeks have been difficult for me. Instead of celebrating my father’s 84th birthday on August 23, I attended his funeral service on August 25.
Apart from one short interview, I didn’t have much an opportunity to respond to the Biden administration’s August 24 decision to cancel up to $20,000 in student loan debt. I’m not sure what there is to add to the conversation at this point, but I’ll write something in the coming days, if only because so many people have asked me what I think about the president’s decision.
Right now, I am in Italy, attending the annual gathering of The European House—Ambrosetti. Yesterday, I participated in a panel focused on the global economic outlook. I had some handwritten notes that I might type up and share with you at some point.
Tomorrow, I’m giving a short speech on Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) and The Deficit Myth in a session aimed at ~100 future leaders (younger participants). I’ve also done a number of interviews with print and television media.
And early this morning I enjoyed watching my daughter swim with my good friend, the brilliant and wonderful Mariana Mazzucato, who is also here speaking. I’ll be back in the writing groove next week.
Ciao!
Being part of a family is part of being human. Glad to hear you're ok.
I’m sorry to hear about your father. Hope you are doing ok. Thanks for continuing to spread MMT knowledge. Hope you are enjoying Italy.
